About the role
You'll work with a team to build Switchboard, a customer portal developed alongside the GitLab Dedicated SaaS offering.
The UI is partially developed, and your task will be to evaluate the current user experience and create an iterative plan for redesign. This will involve using GitLab’s components and patterns, collaborating closely with the engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Define product goals, strategy, and roadmap to solve user problems
- Collaborate with UX researchers, product managers, and engineers to iterate on GitLab features
- Communicate design thinking through wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
- Engage with users to understand pain points and work towards long-term solutions
- Conduct usability testing to validate designs
- Contribute to GitLab’s Design System with the UX team and community
Requirements
- Strong experience designing developer tools, enterprise software, or complex B2B web applications
- Proficiency in user-centered or human-centered design with design thinking
- Experience planning and running UX research, including discovery and usability testing
- Ability to work closely with engineering and product teams in an iterative process
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS and/or JavaScript
- Knowledge of Git is a plus
